Happy Together

We recently had dinner and coffee with Basti's godmother (Ninang in Filipino). We rarely see each other nowadays because she works nights for an outsource call center for a US company. They surely missed each other and I just love that I was able to take pictures of the 2 of them together.

Walking Hand in Hand

I don't have beach photos that I can use so I decided to rummage the stock photos at Adobe for one and found a perfect one for the challenge. And here's what I came up with:

Toys for the Big Girls

Now, who says that only boys can have their toys?!?! Of course a big girl like me can have some too! Meet Sly, my Canon EOS 350D digital SLR and Steph, my Canon Selphy CP710 photo printer. They are my newest tools to complement my passion for digital scrapbooking. Look at how neat and cool they are! They are my most precious gifts for this year and they are definitely the coolest toys any girl can get - aside from clothes, make-up and shoes of course!

Cutesy

My sister, Kim, posed for this photo with this dragonfly toy that I got as a freebie from eating at a buffet restaurant last weekend. She’s really a cutesy subject to take pictures of and scrap.

Kim and Nicole love playing together and they can get really goofy if they want to. Look at how naughty Kim became and made Nicole look like a devil with those 2 fingers sticking up on her head. It was hilarious!

New LOs and then some...

I haven't scrapped for the past couple of days. I've been so preoccupied with Tisha, Sly and Steph that I barely had time to sit and scrap my heart out for hours like I normally do. I also did some general cleaning too so it was kinda hectic for me.

Anyway, yesterday I was able to create some layouts and these were for my first kit assignment at DST. Both layouts were made from Crystalized Creations' digital kit called Gentle Whisper.

Title: Gian and Anna
Font: Hans Hand
Sketch: Brenda of Gotta Pixel
** This layout was used for Gotta Pixel's Blueprints by Brenda Challenge

Title: Kimberly
Fonts: Augustine, Pristina
** I submitted this layout for Gotta Pixel's final Inspire Me Challenge

I'm currently finishing up my 2 layouts for Kim Woodlee's "Remembering You" at Do It Digi. Here's one of the layouts I'll be submitting:

Title: My Best Friend
Font: 2Peas Miss Priss
** This was my layout for the Anything Goes challenge at Gotta Pixel

As always, I am very much welcome to hear your comments and constructive criticisms on my layouts. I really, really appreciate them very much.

Happy scrappin'!

Adorable and Happy Couple

Here's one of Trysh's recent photos. I'm glad she sent me a new set of fresh photos of her because she's one of my favorite subjects to scrap. Her beautiful smile and face radiates the beauty of her heart and soul.

A beautiful photo of Daddy Ogie and Mommy Leth during Malou’s birthday celebration at their place. They sure are a happy and wonderful couple to look at. I got the poem from Romantic Poems website.

Friends

This is the very first layout I made using FotoFusion. I bought the Standard Edition and so far I'm loving it. It can work with Photoshop too. I won't make a total switch but if I want fast and easy scrapbook pages, I'm definitely going to use FotoFusion. :) There is also an e-group dedicated for FotoFusion users, ScrapbookingFotoFusion@yahoogroups.com. You might want to check it out too :) They have a great bunch of the friendliest and most helpful people that I know to walk you through learning the software. I heard that the makers of FotoFusion are also part of that group. :)

Digiscrap Treasures

I've recently discovered a site called Digiscrap Treasures. It's a fairly new site that's full of promise and great kits. I got accepted into their design team and I will be coming up with my first set of layouts for them very soon. It would be great to see you all there filling up the gallery with your works and talking to us through the forum.

Last week, Ready, Set, Create's Jen Blackwell informed me that they will be using 2 of my layouts for their April/May 2006 issue. Yay!!!

I have created some layouts but I will be posting them later. In the meantime, enjoy this special day with all your loved ones. Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Rectangle vs Square

I've been creating a lot of rectangle layouts lately and I'd like to think that I've been converted! Rectangle layouts are simply those that don't fall in the 12x12, 8x8 or 6x6 categories. KWIM? Hehehehe!

I enjoy the challenge that creating rectangle layouts give me and it makes me think outside the box. I have to be very choosy in the elements and papers I'll be using to create that eye-popping layout. I've been going through galleries of rectangle scrappers and believe me! They fall into my list of favorite scrappers now. They're very talented and very, very creative!

Here are some highly recommended galleries you can browse for inspiration to help you get started on trying out a rectangle layout:

Ginger Thibodeau
Mish
Nicole Durtschi
Novita
Rona Gavino

Give rectangles a try! It's worth it!...But of course, I'm not totally giving up my square layouts :D

My Valentine Card

I participated in a challenge posted over at SOTB that's just in time for Valentine's Day. We were required to make a card from the mini-kit that Sue made for this round. It's a very cute kit and here's what I came up with.

I used the mini-kit, Love by Sue Bond at SOTB. The poem written on the red paper is "How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways..." by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and is one of my favorite love poems in the world! (LOL!). For the fonts, I used MA Sexy and Angelina.

My Dad and My Grandma

This was another photo from the reunion, this time of my Dad and his aunt, my only living grandmother from the paternal side. She's turning 92 in May and she still is a darling in front of the camera.

This was another layout made from Jamie Conn's Marisson's Sweater and I used Marnie Regular for the journaling. It sure was fun scrapping this photo. My Dad's my grandma's favorite since he was the first nephew she had.

I used Georgia for the letter G together with MA Sexy and Marydale for the date and journaling.

A Star is Born

I made everything that you can see in this layout (except the element in the middle). It's another attempt at making kit elements. It's not really as grand as other elements are but I hope the layout will be appreciated.

This was a photo of my youngest sister during our dinner after her first recital concert. We had a blast watching her perform and the whole family's proud of her achievement.

All elements were made by yours truly except for the middle element that I made using Christina Bartholomew's Corner Punches Brushes at 3Scrapateers. Journaling is in Hans Hand and the title written in Girls are Weird. Thanks for looking :)

I was sent this photo of my youngest sibling's goofy photos during her stay at my Mom's hotel room last weekend. She's indeed our playful darling!

An Aunt and Her Niece

This was one of the photos I took during the family reunion that we had when my aunt visited us from the US a couple of weeks ago. Her aunt, all of 91 years old, is the only sister of my late paternal grandmother. This is actually one of my favorite photos from the reunion.

I used Leticia Egea's Keys of Love at Do It Digi, Hans Hand for the journaling, and Virtual Photographer to convert the photo to black and white to come up with a layout based from the sketch of Traci Reed at ScrapMommies.

I've been published!

After being the Digital Discovery at ScrapStreet last month, one of my works has been published once again at Ready, Set, Create's February/March 2006 issue (page 10) for my layout "Love." I made this layout using Trudy Montgomery's Fall Potpourri scrap kit at 3S last year.

I recommend that you get a copy of this issue because it contains a lot of very helpful tips, a great bunch of ideas and a wonderful gallery of layouts to help you create more and preserve more of your precious photos and memories. I personally found the article by Monica Powell about creating an "All About Me" album - one of my projects for this year. You will also have a grand time reading through some tutorials and all about fonts. This issue is packed with so much great stuff that you shouldn't miss.

Thanks RSC for publishing my work! :) It's an honor. :)

Blogger's Scheduled Outage

I've been getting a lot of error messages using Blogger lately and just as I thought, the Blogger team has been having problems. Blogger will have a scheduled outage on February 6, at 7PM PST. Blogger will be unavailable at that time.

Woohoo! Hopefully, things will get better after this :)

A new beginning

January 28th was my last day with 3Scrapateers. It was a very difficult decision to make for me to leave the team that believed in my potential as a digital scrapbooker when no one else seemed to do such. For almost 7 months, I was with them maintaining very civil relationships and some close ones with other team members. It was one learning experience I wouldn't forget but I felt that I wanted to explore my other options and be with a team that can surely help me grow and learn more aside from what I already know and have been doing.

I applied for the position of Design Team with Do It Digi and they gladly accepted me with open arms. It was a non-exclusive position and the requirements were something that would allow me to work from outside of my computer and deal with other things. Besides, I have plans of leaving the country real soon and explore my other options as well to make a much better life from what I currently have.

I am just glad that I have more time right now to sort out my life and see some things that I haven't been seeing for the past couple of months that I'm too engrossed in digital scrapbooking. I was touched when Brenda told me that I can always go back if I want to and I will keep that in mind though :) 3S is such a wonderful family and I will forever be grateful to them for everything that they did in improving my skills and talent as a digital scrapbooker.

Moving on, my last 2 layouts have been my first 2 layouts for Do It Digi as one of their official Design Team members. It was fun working on Victorian Dreams. It was a cute kit too.

I did try my hand at applying to 3 Creative Team calls but all of 3 designers turned me down. It was sure fun applying to their calls but of course, knowing that there are a lot of great layout artists out there, the chances of being chosen are sometimes remote. I did apply to 3 more calls (See?! I don't give up just like that! LOL!). If any one of them answers positively, then of course, I'll limit myself to DID and the designer. Let's just see what happens in a couple of days.

Valentine's Day is coming up soon and I've a couple of projects (actually, just 3) that I'm working on. All 3 are almost done but I just have to add some finishing touches to it and have it printed out then they're all set to be given out as gifts.

A Cherry on Top
I've been going on a shopping spree since last week and have bought a couple of kits from Designer Digitals, Scrap Girls, SBB and SBE. There are only a handful of sites that allow credit card purchases from the Philippines and although I have favorite designers from some other sites, they only have PayPal for their merchant. I am still ranting about how most digital scrapbooking sites can't accept CC purchases from the Philippines. Too bad though!

Just today, I came across A Cherry on Top. They sell digital scrapbooking supplies from various designers and sites. I was so ecstatic to see some of my favorite designers selling their stuff from there (like Amy Teets, Melany Violette, Michelle Underwood, ScrapKitchen, Scrapsy Daisy, etc.). I made my first purchase and it was a success! YAY! Another site where I can splurge! I guess my silent pleas and rantings are getting heard every single day. This is really a very wonderful development. :) I have to admit that I can never have enough of digital scrapbooking kits. It's my passion and my collection :)

I'm on vacation and yet I'm sick. This is one helluva vacation if I may say so. It's no fun vacationing and getting sick with a bad cough and cold all at the same time.

Happy scrappin' everyone! Here's to a new and productive month ahead!
